SANTA ANA, Calif. -

Manheim announced Tuesday that company team members at four locations came together to provide a new Ford F-150 to the American Red Cross Desert to the Sea Region.

Four Manheim locations in Southern California joined forces with its company client Remarketing by Element to raise funds as part of a campaign called “Race to Give.”

The company said the Ford F-150 will join a local fleet of disaster and emergency response vehicles driven by volunteers in Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties.

“When disaster strikes, Red Cross volunteers are there to help get people back on their feet,” said Linda Voss, who is regional chief executive officer at the Red Cross Desert to the Sea Region, in a news release. “Vehicles like this one allow us to get to and from the scene safely, and deliver much-needed supplies. It’s more than just a truck — it’s a vital tool for us to deliver help and hope in our region, and beyond.”

Last year, the Desert to the Sea Region helped more than 900 families who were impacted by disasters, according to Manheim.

“While we have a wonderful national partnership with the Red Cross, what is really special about this organization is how proactively they work with individuals on the local level,” said Michele Blondheim, who is senior director of community relations at Manheim parent company Cox Automotive. “The assistance the Red Cross provides to individuals and families is of critical importance in the communities where we live and work, and we are proud to see all the ways in which our team members step up to support their efforts.”

The four auctions to participate in the “Race to Give,” campaign include Manheim Riverside, Manheim Southern California, Manheim California and Manheim San Diego.

In addition to the F-150, Manheim team members also assembled around 1,500 comfort kits for Red Cross workers to distribute to disaster victims throughout the year.
