CARMEL, Ind. -

You’re a car dealer attending a conference on certified pre-owned in Las Vegas, and then an auto auction sale breaks out.

While perhaps not as simple as that description, Fiat Chrysler dealers got to experience something similar at FCA’s inaugural national CPOV dealer meeting earlier this week.

ADESA teamed up with FCA for a pilot of an ADESA Simulcast sale beyond the gates of an auto auction, setting up a sale at the FCA CPOV event that would be first time the ADESA Simulcast technology was used to launch a sale “from multiple sites in a non-sale-day environment to a defined, exclusive group of dealers.”

FCA dealers at the conference were able to bid on the cars, which were put up for sale from ADESA Golden Gate, ADESA Indianapolis, ADESA Kansas City and ADESA Las Vegas.

More than 130 dealers attended the FCA CPOV dealer meeting.

“We were extremely pleased to work with our strong partners at FCA to demonstrate the powerful potential of ADESA Simulcast to this sophisticated and tech savvy group of dealers,” ADESA president John Hammer said in a news release.

“ADESA Simulcast allows us to bring the auction right to our dealers — exposing sellers to a broader buyer base and helping buyers access the hard-to-find inventory they need,” Hammer said. “We were honored to pilot this with FCA and to add to the excitement and energy of their annual meeting.”

ADESA announced the launch of ADESA Simulcast in April, replacing the ADESA LiveBlock platform. Through the cloud-based auction platform, dealers can take part virtually in multiple in-lane sale, while also accessing condition reports, photos, valuation tools and transport options.

“FCA has always taken a progressive and innovative approach to remarketing,” said Mark Nagel, head of remarketing at FCA – U.S, in a news release. “Our dealers demand it, and our dealers are always looking for new solutions that save time and resources.

“Digital and streaming technology is a great way to accomplish this, and we were pleased with the inaugural launch of this pilot sale. We look forward to evolving these and other programs to help our franchise dealers succeed,” he said.

In recent and related CPO news from FCA, the automaker added Lotpop to its official FCA Digital Supplier program in June, whereby the FCA dealer body can now utilize Lotpop to help boost their certified pre-owned and used-car operations — particularly when it comes to how quickly they are turning that inventory.
