SEATTLE -

Auction Edge launched a beta program Wednesday of its mobile check-in application.

Mobile check-in allows auction staff to check-in vehicles using their mobile device of choice, supporting both iOS and Android phones and tablets.

The company explained Auction Edge’s mobile check-in application allows customers to use their preferred mobile device to “immediately record vehicle details and de-code VIN numbers by scanning the barcode.  It also enables auction staff to take photos of a vehicle using their device’s built-in camera.”

Commenting on the news, David Weld, chief executive officer, said, “Mobile check-in brings great efficiencies to the auction environment.

“It eliminates the need for additional devices and streamlines the check-in process from scanning VIN barcodes to capturing images of a vehicle simply by using a smart phone or tablet,” he continued.

Also, all of the functions in the mobile check-in application are fully integrated with ASI technology in order to provide customers.

The mobile check-in application works over both a wi-fi network and the cell data network, which the company contends allows for greater flexibility of use.

“Auction Edge is committed to developing technologies to help our customers grow their businesses, “ Weld added.  “Mobile check-in is the first step toward leveraging the mobile platform across our portfolio of products.”

Customers interested in joining the limited beta program can email Auction Edge at beta@auctionedge.com.

After beta testing and refinement, the company will release commercially the mobile check-in application at the beginning of March.

The mobile check-in application will be free of charge for existing customers.
