FRANKLIN, Tenn. -

Auctions in the business of selling proved they can also give back, with several auction events raising thousands for community causes.

First up, Brasher’s Northwest Auto Auction, in what has become an eight-year tradition, hosted the Brasher’s Golf Challenge to benefit the Natasha Melton Medical Fund.

Fourteen-year-old Natasha, the daughter of Brasher’s Northwest general manager Mark Melton, works to overcome the effects of spina bifida. This year's tournament and raffle raised $30,500 to help defray Natasha's medical expenses.

Held at Langdon Farms Golf Club in Aurora, Ore., the day also sported several winners on the greens, including Bruce Klouda, who shot a hole-in-one on No. 13; Mike Noreen of Wells Fargo Dealer Services, winner of the putting contest; Alex Perkins of Enterprise, winner of the chipping contest; and Marcus Olmstead of Auto Network, with the longest drive of 326 yards.

Turning in the lowest score for the tournament were Dave Cooley, Keith Strange, Pat Wilcox and Jared McDonald.

Dealers Raise $5K

Meanwhile, Carolina Auto Auction and its dealers raised $5,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project throughout the month of May, as part of the annual Support the Troops campaign.

The funds benefit injured soldiers from the U.S. Armed Forces who have suffered wounds during combat efforts.

All eight lanes at the independent auto auction were silent in honor of the many soldiers who fought for our freedom, and auction general manager Tommy Rogers spoke in honor of them.

As part of the ceremony, 35-year Air Force veteran Ray Daniel, owner of Ray Daniel Auto Sales, was named Dealer of the Week.

Stay tuned for more auctions giving back to the community in an upcoming edtiion of Auto Remarketing.
