The Dealers Auto Auction Group is building a new facility for its Memphis, Tenn., auction location, with a groundbreaking ceremony scheduled March 31 and a targeted autumn completion date.
DAA Memphis is currently located near the city’s airport, and a new, expanded location elsewhere is needed to accommodate the auction’s growing business, management said. The new auction facility will be located on U.S. 64 outside of Memphis.
It will be located on 130 operating acres and include state-of-the-art facilities and technology, a larger mechanics shop, reconditioning services and a test track. The new DAA Memphis will also include planned green spaces for the nearby community.
“This site will allow DAA of Memphis the room to not only better and more efficiently serve our existing dealers and consignors, but also allows an even larger national presence to the Memphis market, which is good for the community and industry,” Dealers Auto Auction Group founder and chief executive officer David Andrews said in a news release.
Dealers Auto Auction Group began in 2001 with one auction in Horn Lake, Miss., but now includes seven auctions throughout Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi.
Virgil Matczak is the national sales manager for the group.
“Since our move into Memphis from Horn Lake over three years ago, our team has been hard at work to find the right site to best serve our customers,” Matczak said in a news release.
“This site is perfect and really affords us with the ability to not only continue to serve our local independent dealers, but also some very large national consignors looking to make a splash into the Memphis market,” he said. “Our customers join in our excitement. The Memphis market is strong, and we are proud to be a part of that growth. Our commitment continues.”
DAA Memphis general manager Dan Dietsch will manage the project.
“This expansion is coming at the right time, in the right place and can’t be completed soon enough for the city’s resurgence as a great place to do business. The Memphis market keeps growing and is desirable for a number of national consignors looking to expand as well as enter the region; the location of Memphis is perfect!” Dietsch said in a news release.
“Having the new state-of-the-art facilities to service our onsite and online marketplace will give us the edge, and I’m looking forward to working with the team here at DAA Memphis to continue to grow and flourish.”
