Cox Automotive has announced it brought aboard a former general counsel with the Coca-Cola organization to serve as senior vice president and general counsel, effective Monday.

Angus Haig, who spent almost two decades with Coca-Cola, brings considerable global legal and business experience, having lived and worked in the Asia Pacific region, Europe, Eurasia, the Middle East and the United States.

He most recently served as Coca-Cola international general counsel – Asia Pacific and general counsel Japan. 

“Angus is a seasoned legal professional with nearly 25 years of extensive experience, including a wide range of international positions,” Cox Automotive executive vice president and chief financial officer Mark Bowser said in a news release announcing Haig’s appointment. “His track record and expertise will serve Cox Automotive well.”

In his new role, Haig will determine the company's overall risk mitigation strategy and report to Bowser.

Cox Automotive said he will partner closely with its executive team and cross-functional leadership teams.

Haig, an Australia native, joined Coca-Cola in 1998 as division marketing counsel for Coca-Cola South Pacific in Sydney.

Prior to Coca-Cola, he began his career in Adelaide, South Australia where he first served as an associate to a Supreme Court judge and then a solicitor.
