General Motors recently doled out its 2011 GM Auction of the Year award, and receiving this year’s honor was ADESA Kansas City.

The auction was chosen from 35 GM-sponsored auctions throughout the U.S. based on its “achievement in providing GM and its dealers with outstanding quality, service and value throughout the year.”

Officials noted that ADESA Kansas City — located in Belton, Mo. — has been one of GM’s bestsellers the past 10 years, and moved more than 8,300 units for GM and Ally during its GM closed sales and Ally open sales in 2011.

“ADESA Kansas City’s consistent and high-ranking performance serves as a model of best practices for nationwide GM Sponsored Auctions,” stated Dan Kennedy, manager of GM Remarketing. “Solid performance starts with strong business practices and exemplary customer relations – something ADESA Kansas City understands well. We congratulate and thank them for their continued success.”

ADESA Kansas City general manager Harold Chapman added: “We are honored to receive this award, which recognizes the hard work of our entire auction team.

“ADESA Kansas City is fortunate to have developed a strong partnership with General Motors, and we look forward to continuing this relationship,” he continued.

Earlier this year, the automaker shared the quarterly GM Sponsored Auction Regional Operational Awards with Auto Remarketing. Every quarter, this program awards one auction in each region. GM Remarketing selects winners based on the following criteria: vehicle repair and reconditioning; dealers’ purchasing activity; vehicle throughput, sales volumes; and percentage of older inventory
