Bojangles, the fast-food fried chicken chain, has launched its first electric vehicle charging station at its location in Savannah, Ga., an addition the company said is “reimagining the future of the roadside stop” with a new kind of experience it calls the “charge-and-dine.”

The Savannah location is the first in what Bojangles said is a larger initiative to bring EV charging infrastructure to its restaurants nationwide.

In a news release, the company said the hub — developed in partnership with XLR8 America, a provider of EV charging and sustainable infrastructure, and Energy and Environmental Design Services — signals Bojangles’ evolution beyond traditional quick-service dining and positions it as “a forward-thinking player at the intersection of mobility and hospitality.”

Bojangles said its goal is to turn charging time into an opportunity for EV drivers to get comfort, convenience and Southern flavor, while reinforcing its role as an innovator in and beyond the quick-service category.

“Driving trends are changing, and so are the expectations that come with them,” chief information officer Richard Del Valle said. “With EV charging, time becomes an asset. We’re turning that stop into something meaningful: a chance to relax, refuel and enjoy a true Bojangles experience.

“This is about more than charging vehicles. It’s about redefining the stop along the way.”

The company plans a national rollout across key markets, with charging stations varying between level two (medium speed) and level three (high speed) charging efficiency with more than 97% uptime, making them ready for drivers when they need them.

“At XLR8 America, our philosophy is simple: charge where you park, not park where you charge,” XLR8 America CEO Frank O’Connor said. “Bojangles gets that. When a driver pulls in for a Bo-Berry Biscuit and the battery tops off while they dine, that’s not a coincidence — that’s the charge-and-dine experience made real.

“Together, we’re building a national network that makes EV charging effortless and every stop genuinely worth making.”
