The Final Four of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament is scheduled to be played in Atlanta in 2031.

Set to unfold much sooner in that city is the championship competition in the auto auction world.

The National Auto Auction Association announced on Tuesday that Greater Atlanta Auto Auction (GAAA) has been selected as the host site for the 2027 World Automobile Auctioneers Championship (WAAC).

According to a new release, the event will take place on April 23.

NAAA highlighted the WAAC brings together the industry’s top auctioneers and ringmen from across North America to compete for championship honors while celebrating the talent, professionalism, and traditions that define the remarketing industry.

Each year, organizers said the championship showcases the critical role auctioneers and ringmen play in the auction process and provides an opportunity for industry professionals to gather in a spirit of competition, camaraderie, and excellence.

“Being selected to host the 2027 WAAC is an incredible honor for our team,” said Joaquin Muvdi, who is president of Auto Auction Holdings that owns GAAA. “Greater Atlanta Auto Auction is deeply grateful for the confidence NAAA has placed in us. The WAAC represents the very best of our industry, and we are excited to welcome competitors, sponsors, industry partners, and guests from across the country to Atlanta.

NAAA leadership expressed confidence in GAAA’s ability to continue the championship’s strong tradition while bringing its own unique touch to the event.

NAAA indicated that the selection process to host the WAAC is highly competitive. Member auctions submit proposals to showcase their facilities, staff resources, and vision for the championship.

Following a thorough review by the WAAC Committee, NAAA said Greater Atlanta Auto Auction was selected for its outstanding facilities, operational capabilities, and commitment to advancing the auction industry.
