PLAINFIELD, Ind. -

In an effort to involve the community, as well as ramp up its social media presence, one dealership is thinking outside the of the box.

To ring in the summer, Stoops Buick GMC is holding a community scavenger hunt on Saturday, that will last throughout the day.

The Plainfield, Ind., dealership will be awarding cash prizes to the first, second and third place finishers — $350, $250 and $150, respectively — and will also be holding a free post-hunt barbeque lunch for participants.

The dealership is also working social media into the mix, potentially ramping up its online footprint.

Participants are required to take pictures and post them on Facebook and/or Twitter. Moreover, clues for the scavenger hunt will also be released daily on the company’s Facebook and Twitter page before the event.

“The idea is to encourage participation and build relationships in the community,” said Stoops’ marketing director Barbara Winegar.

“Not just the physical community in Plainfield, but the online, social media community. By encouraging participants to take pictures and post them online, we will be able to share the experience with everyone, not just the people participating in the hunt,” she continued.

Participants are also being offered prize incentives to post on the company’s social media pages.

“The team that collectively posts the highest number of relevant photos on Facebook and/or Twitter is also eligible to win a cash prize of $100 per site,” ofificials explained. “That means the first place team could potentially win up to $550.”

Additional information and updates can be found on the dealership’s Facebook page and Twitter page.
