HOUSTON –
Group 1 Automotive has expanded its presence in the Kansas City metropolitan area with the purchase of a Kia dealership in Overland Park, Kan.
The retailer announced the purchase of Shawnee Mission Kia earlier this week, noting the store will likely bring in an estimated $65 million in revenue each year.
This move follows a year where Group 1 purchased 16 franchises having estimated annual revenues of $715 million, while cutting six franchises with trailing 12-month revenues under $128 million.
“Group 1 is pleased to add scale to our Kansas City operations and further expand our brand offerings,” said Earl Hesterberg, Group 1's president and chief executive officer. “Shawnee Mission Kia will complement Group 1's existing BMW, MINI and Hyundai dealerships in the Kansas City metropolitan area.”
