75 Years for America’s Auto Auction Greenville This Month; Anniversary Sale in October

America’s Auto Auction Greenville, one of the nation’s oldest auto auctions, is marking its 75th anniversary in September and will commemorate this milestone with a celebratory sale next month.
Not long after Rawls Auto Auction opened its doors in 1938, this fellow South Carolina facility hosted its debut sale, moving all 42 vehicles that were up for auction that day.
Its roots were in the livestock trade, as founder P.L. Bruce opened it as a horse and mule business five years earlier.
Starting out with just 12 employees as an auto auction, Greenville Auto Auction — its original name — would soon blossom, along with the rest of the surrounding auction business in the Palmetto State. By the late 1940s, there were seven auto auction sales within five miles of Greenville AA, officials noted.
To help set itself apart, Greenville added a reconditioning facility in 1962 and would grow to four lanes by the 1970s. Eventually, it would become one of the first seven sites to sell cars for General Motors.
It was eventually purchased by America’s Auto Auction in 2005.
“As one of the oldest auctions in the country, we celebrate every week,” says Ben Lange, president of America’s Auto Auction, Inc. “If I were to identify the ‘secret sauce’ that has made us successful , it is that we provide great service, have promo events every week, and have a great team working with our customers every day.”
The auction will celebrate its silver anniversary on Oct. 25. More information on any of the America’s Auto Auction facilities can be found by visiting www.americasautoauction.com.
