ATLANTA –
Manheim named a new general manager and vice president of its Manheim Pennsylvania location, appointing 2013 Women in Remarketing honoree Julie Picard to the role.
Picard, whose prior post was market vice president for Manheim’s Pacific Market, moved into this new position on Jan. 1, taking over for Tim Van Dam.
Picard will report to Van Dam, who was named market vice president of Manheim’s Northeast Market earlier this year.
“Julie’s remarketing expertise and business skills, coupled with a record of delivering results in various leadership roles at Manheim made her the right fit for this key role,” said Van Dam.
“Her experience in running various auction locations, building diverse customer relationships and challenging her teams to continuously excel, positions her to effectively lead our premier auction operation into the future.”
Picard’s responsibility in the post is to lead all internal and external facets of operating the auction. Additional duties include leading conservation and community service initiatives, which Manheim said is something on which its entire organization puts emphasis.

(The company said that Manheim Pennsylvania, for instance, has the largest state-of-the-art reconditioning center in addition to water conservation center that can cut daily water demand by 60 percent).
Sharing more about Picard’s background, she was honored recently with two awards recognizing top women leaders in the auto business. This past fall at Used Car Week, Picard was one of Auto Remarketing’s 2013 Women in Remarketing. Additionally, she also received the 2013 Laurie Dobberphul Top Achiever Award, presented by GE Remarketing.
