November Total Pushes CPO Market to Third Straight Best-Ever Year

WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J. –
The certified pre-owned market has officially hit its third straight year of record annual sales. And it took only 11 months to get there.
After what turned out to be the best November ever for CPO, year-to-date certified sales have reached 1.94 million units — compared to 1.83 million sales for full-year 2012 — and are on track to pass 2 million annual sales, which has never happened before.
This is according to Autodata Corp., which released its breakdown of November CPO sales results on Wednesday evening.
The firm reported 176,493 certified units sold last month, which was a 19.3-percent year-over-year improvement.
The Big 3 increased their CPO sales by 29 percent for the month, moving 59,803 units in November.
Monthly sales for Asian brands were up 13.4 percent at 86,608 units, while European brands moved 30,082 CPO vehicles, good for a 19.4-percent gain.

Domestics took a 33.9 percent share of the market, Europeans were steady with a 17-percent share, and Asian brands commanded 49.1 percent of the CPO market.
