When Phoenix Raceway hosts the NASCAR Cup Series Championship next month, Carvana and its home state of Arizona will be front-and-center for driver Jimmie Johnson’s No. 84 Toyota.
The online used-car retailer partnered with Johnson and LEGACY MOTOR CLUB for Carvana’s Fan Design Contest, which gave fans the chance to design the paint scheme for the vehicle in the Nov. 10 race.
The winner, announced Wednesday, was Ben Moore, whose design was an artistic tribute to the Grand Canyon State, featuring silhouettes of desert landscapes like Monument Valley’s sandstone formations and the saguaro cacti.
“It’s been incredible to see the outpouring of entries and expression of artistic talent in this contest,” Carvana co-founder and chief brand officer Ryan Keeton said in a news release. “The winning design perfectly reflects the spirit of Arizona for Jimmie’s race in Phoenix.”
Johnson added: “I’m thrilled with Ben’s extraordinary design. It beautifully captures the essence of the Phoenix landscape. It’s a unique and stunning tribute, and I’m excited to hit the track with it!”
Speaking of fast-paced events with beautiful Arizona backdrops, Used Car Week returns to Scottsdale, Ariz., roughly a week later.
