What prompted/inspired you to join the auto industry and what do you enjoy most about it?
Growing up on a used-car lot and spending countless hours at auctions with my dad sparked my inspiration for the auto industry. The energy of the auction floor — filled with anticipation, competitiveness, and the unique story behind every bid — gave me a deep appreciation for both the mechanics of cars and the value they hold. Early on, I saw how vehicles could shape lives, representing independence, possibility, and adventure.  What excites me most about the auto industry is its constant evolution.

Each day brings fresh challenges and new opportunities, whether through emerging technologies, meeting people from all walks of life, or collaborating with teams driven by a shared purpose. I’m energized by the industry’s rapid advancements, from electric vehicles to breakthroughs in safety and design. It’s a field that blends my love for automobiles with my interest in networking, making it more than just a career, it’s a true passion. Being part of an industry that impacts everyday life and contributes to a more sustainable future is incredibly rewarding, and I’m excited for what lies ahead.

What is the top trend you’re watching in the used-car industry this year?

The top trend capturing my attention in the used-car industry is the rise of electric vehicles (EVs). As consumer awareness and demand for sustainable options increases, more individuals are seeking out used EVs. This shift toward greener transportation signifies a profound change in how we approach mobility and environmental responsibility.

My company has had little experience in this area, which makes the trend all the more intriguing. The growing availability of used EVs, driven by an expanding range of models, is making these vehicles accessible to a broader audience, particularly those who might not consider new purchases due to cost. Furthermore, advancements in battery technology and charging infrastructure enhance the practicality of EVs for everyday use.

It’s an exciting opportunity to explore this dynamic and rapidly changing segment!

What accomplishment are you most proud of in your career?

One of my proudest accomplishments in my career has been the successful establishment of the repossession and remarketing departments. This initiative began with identifying the need for a streamlined process to manage assets efficiently.

Over time, we developed robust process for tracking and managing repossessed assets, ensuring compliance with regulations while maximizing resale value. The result was an increase in recovery rates and a reduction in turnaround time for remarketing.

This accomplishment not only contributed to the company’s bottom line but also fostered a culture of teamwork and accountability. Seeing the departments thrive and knowing they’ve had a lasting impact on the organization fills me with pride.

What book, film or song has inspired you personally or professionally?
A song that has inspired me personally and professionally is “Don’t Stop Believin'” by Journey. Growing up, my father was always playing “oldies”, and this song had a lasting impact on me. Its powerful message of perseverance and hope resonates deeply, reminding me to keep pushing forward, no matter the challenges I face.

The lyrics encourage resilience and the belief that dreams are attainable, which has been a guiding principle in my life. Whenever I encounter obstacles, I find strength in the song’s uplifting melody and motivating words. It serves as a reminder to maintain faith in myself and my aspirations.

Professionally, “Don’t Stop Believin'” inspires me to embrace opportunities and tackle challenges with determination. It encourages me to support my team and instill that same sense of hope in others. The song has become a personal anthem, symbolizing the importance of having a positive mindset and never giving up.

Ultimately, the music my father introduced me to has shaped my outlook on life, and “Don’t Stop Believin'” stands out as a timeless reminder to pursue my goals with unwavering belief.

Who is someone who has inspired you personally or professionally?
Someone who has profoundly inspired me, both personally and professionally, is Patsy Jones. Sadly, she left us in 2021, and her absence is deeply felt by many. Patsy was an incredible role model, mentor, boss, and friend. Over the 10 years I worked with her, she taught me invaluable lessons that have shaped my career and personal growth.

Patsy exemplified leadership through her unwavering support and genuine care for her team. She had a unique ability to foster an inclusive environment where everyone felt valued and empowered to contribute. Her passion for the finance industry was contagious, motivating those around her to strive for excellence.  I often referred to her as a walking encyclopedia.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Patsy was a beacon of kindness and integrity. She taught me the importance of resilience, adaptability, and the power of building strong relationships. Her insightful guidance and encouragement helped me navigate challenges and seize opportunities with confidence.

Reflecting on her influence, I’m committed to carrying forward the values she instilled in me. Patsy’s legacy continues to inspire me to be a better leader, person, and mentor, and I strive to honor her memory by embodying the principles she stood for throughout her life.
