NAAA: Industry Veteran Cook Dies; Association Offers Condolences

FREDERICK, Md. -
Industry veteran Peter Cook passed away recently, leaving behind a long legacy in the automotive segment and beyond, according to a statement from National Auto Auction Association obtained by Auto Remarketing.
Cook passed away on Nov. 28 at Spectrum Health, which is located in Michigan.
“The National Auto Auction Association and Grand Rapids Auto Auction mourns the loss of a partner and friend,” NAAA said in an obituary notice sent out last week. The statement later expressed condolences to Cook’s family and friends.
Looking at his career in some detail, officials said that among Cook’s businesses was Import Motors. This company spent more than 25 years distributing Volkswagen vehicles and parts in the Midwest, officials noted. Volkswagen of America later bought the company.
But as NAAA highlighted, his endeavors stretched beyond the auto industry. Cook donated not only his money to churches, communities, education and medical organization, but his leadership, as well.
“His interest and concern for the needs of community neighborhoods were represented by his numerous substantial gifts to a wide-range of projects and organizations,” NAAA said.
The association continued: “As a chartable individual, Peter would often say: ‘I believe one of the reasons I’ve been so greatly blessed is to be able to help people and organizations that need help.’
“From that came what he called ‘big saying’ about giving: ‘There are two necessary things in giving. One is to be willing; the other is to be able. Able is secondary because many people who are not willing to become able never give. People who have little yet give what they can become big givers when they are able. That’s because they have been willing!’” NAAA added.
It is asked that memorials go to Grace Reformed Church or a charitable cause of your choice.
The address of the church is:
