ADESA to Join NAAA in Celebrating National Auto Auction Week

ADESA revealed that its 70 auction locations throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico will participate in National Auto Auction Week, an event which aims to “celebrate the industry’s seven decades of entrepreneurship.”
The week designated by the National Auto Auction Association, Aug. 22–26, will include events and activities that not only celebrate the staying power of the industry, but also its financial impact on the economy and community service.
“ADESA is a proud member of NAAA,” said ADESA president and chief executive officer Tom Caruso.
“I am a former president of NAAA, and several members of our senior leadership team are active on a number of NAAA boards and committees,” he continued. “I encourage all of our auctions to participate in this week that is dedicated to our people, our industry and our local communities.”
Moving on to highlight NAAA achievements, officials noted that the organization, founded 63 years ago, touts 316 North American members, and the average auto auction now employs 137 people and operates a facility of about 76 acres
Moreover, it was noted that NAAA members sold 8.42 million vehicles in North America, worth $80 billion, in 2010.
NAAA president Jay Cadigan also stressed not only the economic impact of the auction business, but also the effect the businesses have on their local communities, noting NAAA’s members raised more than $1.8 million for a variety of local charities last year.
Cadigan also encourages “members to recognize their customers, acknowledge the contributions of their employees and reconnect with their local communities during National Auto Auction Week.”
