Fleets have been getting more mileage out of their work trucks and vans — quite literally.

According to the Q2 2026 Commercial Vehicle Market Analysis from Work Truck Solutions, median mileage on work trucks and vans came in at 77,507 miles in the second quarter.

That was up 30.8% from the first quarter and 24.5% from Q2 2025.

But it doesn’t appear to be having a negative impact on appetite for these vehicles in the secondary market.

“The massive spike in average mileage suggests that fleet managers have been driving their work trucks and vans longer before introducing them to the secondary market,” Work Truck Solutions said in the report.

“Despite higher mileage, these used commercial vehicles are turning over 10% faster than last quarter, indicating that buyers are still actively absorbing used stock to keep operations running.”

Average prices on used commercial vehicles came in at $37,494, a 3.1% decrease from the first quarter, but up 8.8% year-over-year.

And while used commercial vehicle sales were down 8.3% year-over-year in Q2, it was less steep than the decline in Q1, thanks to a 10% quarter-over-quarter rise in sales.

Days to turn came in at 56 up 5.7% from a year ago but down 9.7% from the first quarter, Work Truck Solutions said.

The amount of used work truck inventory each dealers had on their lot climbed 7.4% from the first quarter and 3.6% from a year ago.

“Driven by a significant rotation of higher-mileage fleet trade-ins, the pre-owned commercial market is seeing renewed transaction velocity, with buyers rapidly absorbing these vehicles and driving days to turn down,” the company said.

The used commercial vehicle data shows “numerous factors that point toward fleet managers cycling at a slower pace,” says Work Truck Solutions CEO Aaron Johnson.

“Dealers who leverage precise digital merchandising to showcase the value of these highly capable, yet higher-mileage vehicles, will find a very receptive buyer base.”
