Anticipating Busy Spring, CarMax to Hire 965

Telling Auto Remarketing it is anticipating a strong spring, CarMax revealed Monday it is looking to fill more than 965 positions throughout the U.S., with most being sales and service operations roles.
The company said it is aiming to meet seasonal staffing needs and when asked if CarMax is expecting a hike in activity/sales in the coming months that would necessitate these hires, CarMax public relations manager Britt Farrar told Auto Remarketing: “Yes. Spring is historically one of the busiest times for CarMax. We are hiring in all areas of our business — sales, service, business office and our purchasing office.”
Farrar noted that the majority of CarMax’s 107 locations have jobs open, but a few markets have the most need for hires.
These include:
Atlanta
Baltimore
Charlotte, N.C.
Columbus, Ohio
Connecticut stores
Dallas
Fresno, Calif.
Greensboro, N.C.
Houston
Kansas City, Kan.
Miami
Oklahoma City
Washington, D.C.
West Palm Beach, Fla.
“Our associates are the heart of our success," stated CarMax president and chief executive officer Tom Folliard. “We’re proud to offer quality careers that provide training, development and excellent benefits at a great company to work for." For the eighth year in a row, CarMax has been selected as one of Fortune magazine’s ‘100 Best Companies to Work For.’”
Sharing what CarMax provides as far as benefits, officials said the company offers health coverage, paid time off, insurance and disability, and retirement options for full-time associates.
Among other perks, CarMax employees are given discounts when they buy vehicles and for other services, as well.
“CarMax is looking for candidates who are dependable, team oriented, possess strong customer service skills and have high integrity,” said Pam Hill, director of selection and recruiting for CarMax. “We also look for individuals who have a willingness to work the varied hours of a retail work environment.”
This announcement comes on the heels of CarMax revealing that it will add almost 55 stores through 2016, including 10 new locations this year.
So in an economy where most are cutting jobs throughout all industries, what makes CarMax stand out and be able to take on such a significant hiring?
“Despite the economy, CarMax continues to find that consumers are still doing their homework when it comes to shopping for their next vehicle,” Farrar explained. “They are committed to finding a quality vehicle at a fair price and turn to CarMax for its low, no-haggle pricing, five-day return policy and 30-day warranty. We’re also continuing to grow and plan to open 10 stores in the coming year.”
