WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J. -

BMW of North America named a new manager of pre-owned sales to replace Russ Lucas, who is moving to the role of vice president of the Eastern Region.

Appointed to serve as pre-owned manager is Steve Saward, who will begin his new post on Oct. 1. In this role, he will head up all pre-owned operations for the company. Part of that is leading the certified pre-owned programs for the BMW and Mini brands.

Saward was most recently manager of sales for Mini USA, a post he began in 2005. He has been with the automaker since 1984, when he started as a district sales manager in Pleasanton, Calif. Before that post, he had worked for Volkswagen for three years in a similar capacity.

Following his initial position, Saward has since gone on to serve in various roles for the company.

Meanwhile, Lucas will take on his new role on Oct. 1.

The late Jack Pitney, who died tragically in August during an accident while vacationing on his farm, had been slated to take the post as vice president of the Eastern Region beginning Sept. 1.

Pitney’s prior role was that of vice president of marketing for BMW North America. Taking that role will be Dan Creed, whose most recent post was as vice president of aftersales.
