Debut Fiat 500 in Canada Generates Strong Interest at Auction

WINDSOR, Ontario -
In some good news for Chrysler Canada, the first Fiat 500 to make its way into Canada fetched $85,000 at a charitable auction held earlier this month.
The vehicle — which was donated by Chrysler Canada — is a Fiat Cinquecento (500) Prima Edizione and sports a “Numero Uno” numbered badge. It was sold at Toronto’s 17th annual Venetian Ball, hosted Oct. 16 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
All proceeds from the event were donated to Villa Charities.
“The enthusiastic bidding for this iconic vehicle, and the fact that it sold for $85,000, underscore the excitement and interest the Fiat 500 has generated since Fiat’s return to Canada was first announced,” stated Ed Broadbear, Chrysler Canada’s vice president of marketing.
Reid Bigland, Chrysler Canada’s president and chief executive officer, noted: “Chrysler Canada and Fiat are proud to donate Canada’s very first Fiat 500 to support Villa Charities.
“Thanks to the alliance between our two companies, the feeling of kinship with the vibrant Italian-Canadian community has strengthened and we are pleased to be a part of this wonderful event,” he added.
Chrysler is only selling 500 of these Prima Edizione models (including the one sold at the auction) in Canada. Each of these limited edition vehicles will have a sequential Prima Edizione badge based on the order of production. The sequence of badges, of course, began with the “Numero Uno” that was sold at the charity auction.
Buyers will be able to choose from white, red or gray for the Fiat 500 Prima Edizione.
The Fiat 500 will make its North American debut at the end of this year.
