Manheim Harrisonburg Celebrates 40th Anniversary
HARRISONBURG, Va. — The management team at Manheim Harrisonburg stretched its 40th anniversary festivities over two special events in May as more than 2,000 dealers participated in the lanes and via Manheim Simulcast.
On May 19, the auction offered vehicles from AmeriCredit, DriveTime, Wheels, PH&H and Wells Fargo plus dealer consignment. Attending dealers received 40th anniversary baseball caps and had the opportunity to enjoy complimentary pastries and coffee.
A week later, the facility hosted a corn roast for dealers and offered vehicles from RSA, CPS, DriveTime, Wheels, PH&H and Wells Fargo, plus dealer consignments. Dealers also received customized anniversary T-shirts.
"We're proud of the fact that we've been serving a consistent customer base in this market for 40 years," general manager Karl Kiracofe emphasized.
"This celebration gives us the chance to thank our dealers for their continued business," Kiracofe added.
Along with the activities on the sale days, Manheim Harrisonburg mentioned that Barbara Wheatley, who began the auction with her husband, Jim, was a special guest. The company recalled the Wheatleys held the first sale on March 25, 1970, operating the business out of their home while the auction was under construction.
"Both Jim and Barbara were active in the industry, having earned the distinction of being the first husband and wife to both be elected to the National Auto Auction Association's Hall of Fame," Steve Robinson, assistant general manager of Manheim Harrisonburg.
"They started this auction based on the philosophy of always providing exceptional service, and Manheim has continued that tradition," Robinson went on to say.
