Eligible applicants must complete the necessary paperwork by Feb. 1.

NAAA recounted that this scholarship program is meant to assist full-time employees of association members, their children and grandchildren who plan to continue education in college or vocational school programs. NAAA pointed out scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

The association noted if the employee becomes disabled, retires, and/or dies during the application process, their children or grandchildren are still eligible. NAAA added high school seniors or graduates who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year also can apply.

If selected as a recipient, NAAA indicated the student will receive an award of $2,000 or $4,000 depending on the field of study. Three awards totaling $10,000 will be awarded for each of the four NAAA member chapter and corporate office geographic locations each annually.

—One award of $2,000 will be granted to a vocational-technical student in an auto-related course of study or to a two-year college student.

—Two awards of $4,000 each will be granted to students attending a four-year college (or its equivalent).

“Awards are not to exceed the cost of tuition, fees, books and supplies,” NAAA explained. “Awards are for undergraduate study only and are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.”

The association said interested students must complete the application in English and mail it along with a current, complete transcript of grades and any other required documents with a postmark no later than Feb. 1.

NAAA noted grade reports are not acceptable and online transcripts must display student name, school name, grade and credit hours earned for each course and term in which each course was taken.

The association insisted applicants will receive acknowledgment of receipt of their application. If an acknowledgment card is not received within four weeks, applicants can call Scholarship Management Services — the vendor handling the processing for NAAA — to verify that the application has been received.

Scholarship Management Services plans to process only the first 200 applications received or postmarked on Feb. 1 or earlier.
