FRANKLIN, Tenn. -

Pittsburgh Independent Auto Auction now is the sixth ServNet location to become a partner for General Motors and GMAC this year.

PIAA assistant general manager Chris Angelicchio said the inaugural sale is set for Thursday.

Angelicchio went on to mention the auction plans to run a GM closed sale every other Thursday at 10 a.m. and a weekly GMAC sale on Tuesdays.

“We are delighted to welcome General Motors to PIAA and are anticipating a tremendous sale on the Thursday,” Angelicchio insisted.

“Adding a GM closed sale and a GMAC open sale at PIAA has caused quite a stir among the dealers in this region, and we expect to see a big and enthusiastic crowd at our first GM sale,” he continued.

PIAA is no stranger to dealers and national remarketers since it’s been in operation for more than three decades by three generations of the Angelicchio family. Dave Angelicchio, the auction’s general manager, recently completed his tenure as president of the National Auto Auction Association, and now serves as NAAA’s chairman of the board.

ServNet maintains that it has had a long, successful history with GM and GMAC. Richard Curtis, ServNet’s executive vice president of industry relations, noted the addition of PIAA brings the number of ServNet auctions serving GM and/or GMAC to 10.

“ServNet auctions consistently rank among the top-performing auctions for General Motors, the nation’s largest institutional seller of vehicles in the wholesale market, and GMAC, the nation’s largest financer of vehicles,” Curtis emphasized.

Curtis went on to note GM and GMAC jointly remarket vehicles at 42 GM sponsored auction sites across the country in both a closed and open sale environment. Of those 42 facilities, only 16 are independent auctions, and eight of those independents are ServNet auctions. 

In addition, GMAC has stand-alone sponsored sales at two additional ServNet auctions: DAA Northwest in Spokane, Wash., and Dealers Auto Auction of Alaska in Anchorage.
