WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J. -

More than a couple handfuls of import brands posted all-time bests for certified pre-owned sales last year, according to Autodata Corp., which said that the collective full-year sales totals for both Asian- and European-brand sales were up by double-digit percentages.

Joining Ford/Mercury/Lincoln as best-ever full-year CPO achievers were Audi, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Lexus, Mazda,
Mercedes-Benz, Mini, Nissan, Porsche, Subaru, Toyota and Volkswagen.

Mazda, for one, enjoyed its fourth straight year of record sales, said Roger Basa, who is the manager of CPO and remarketing for Mazda North American Operations.

In addition to their aforementioned best-ever annual CPO sales totals, Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche also had their best Decembers on record, according to Autodata.

As reported in the preliminary results shared by the firm, Asian brands combined to sell 1.04 million certified vehicles in 2013 for a 10.7-percent hike over the 2012 sum, while European brands sold 354,437 units for a 13-percent upswing.

CPO market share for Asian brands was at 49.5 percent, down from 51.4 percent for 2012.

Europeans grabbed 16.8 percent of the market, compared to 17.1 percent a year earlier.
