AutoCanada Boosts Used-Car Performance During Hearty Q1

During a period that saw the company increase used-vehicle sales by more than 26 percent and lift used revenue by more than 34 percent, AutoCanada Inc. achieved widespread success, as its chief executive touted gains in “revenue, gross profit and volume sales in all four business streams.”
Overall, the company’s net earnings came in at $4.1 million, more than double the net earnings in the year-ago period. Total revenue reached $37.6 million, up 17.8 percent year-over-year.
Pre-tax net earnings came in at $5.6 million, which was a $2.9 million increase from the prior-year period. EBITDA climbed 68.2 percent to $6.8 million.
Sharing some used-car specifics, AutoCanada’s used revenue was $60.5 million, up from $44.9 million in the first quarter of 2011. The company moved 2,433 used units, compared to 1,980 in the prior-year period.
“The first quarter of 2012 was a very strong quarter for the company with increases in revenue, gross profit and volume sales in all four business streams. The strong sales performance in the first quarter of 2012 resulted in another record first quarter in terms of pre-tax earnings and EBITDA,” stated Pat Priestner, AutoCanada’s chief executive officer.
