CarMax Looking for Staff to Operate 2 New Georgia Stores

Having already opened its ninth store in Virginia earlier this month, CarMax is looking for a total of 90 workers to staff two new dealerships it’s rolling out in Georgia.
This new personnel will operate the company’s Peach State additions in Columbus — a new 13,000-square-foot facility at 6463 Veterans Parkway that’s scheduled to open on April 20 — and in Savannah, a new 21,269-square-foot location that’s set to open on May 18 at 8989 Abercorn St.
When the Georgia dealerships come online, the additions will boost CarMax’s footprint in the state to eight stores.
The company is seeking applicants for full and part-time positions at each store. Available positions include sales, business office, and a variety of service operations positions, such as inventory, service advisor, and technician positions.
Automotive experience is not necessary or required for most positions.
Officials pointed out many CarMax associates have worked for other major retailers such as Target, Lowe’s, Wal-Mart and Macy’s
CarMax said it will contact applicants and set up interviews after an initial review of applications. Applications are now being accepted for the new positions on the retailer’s website at www.carmax.com/savannah or www.carmax.com/columbus.
Meanwhile earlier this month, CarMax opened its newest dealership in Harrisonburg, Va., a store consisting of more than 7,000 square feet and about 150 vehicles in inventory.
Local dignitaries and CarMax associates attended a grand opening event at the new Harrisonburg location at 2587 South Main St.
The event included a “Road Rally” for charity featuring local television personalities competing in contests, which included parallel-parking and pack-the-trunk events. CarMax donated $1,000 to each participant’s charity, and the winner’s charity received an additional $1,000.
“CarMax is constantly looking for ways to improve the customer shopping experience,” said Tom Folliard, president and chief executive officer of CarMax. “The Harrisonburg location will feature interactive digital displays, videos, tablets, and wireless technology.”
While the two Georgia stores are expected to open during the first quarter of CarMax’s 2014 fiscal year, the company said it intends to roll out seven more dealerships later. Those locations include two Maryland cities (Frederick and Waldorf), a pair of Missouri cities (St. Peters and Lindbergh), as well as Houston, Sacramento, Calif., and Jackson, Tenn.
