Four automotive companies were selected by U.S. News & World Report for its latest list of Best Companies to Work For.

Cars.com Inc., d/b/a Cars Commerce, on the list for the second consecutive year, was joined by CarGurus, Credit Acceptance and Penske Automotive from the auto industry.

The magazine said the 300 companies on its annual list were selected from public companies in the Russell 3000 index as of June 2023 with a minimum of 75 U.S.-based Glassdoor reviews between 2020 and 2023.

In addition, U.S. News recognized the top 25% of companies in each industry and the top 25% of companies in each of the four U.S. regions. Cars Commerce and Penske were also included on the lists for the retail category and Midwest region, CarGurus was named among IT, software and services firms and the Northeast region, and Credit Acceptance earned honors for financial services and the Midwest.

“We’re honored to be recognized by U.S. News & World Report for our relentless dedication to delivering the best experience for our employees,” Cars Commerce CEO Alex Vetter said in a news release. “For more than 25 years, we’ve focused on doing what’s right — prioritizing employee well-being, building a workplace where all are welcome and fostering an environment of trust, transparency and accountability.”

Car Commerce and CarGurus were also selected by recruitment site Built In for its list of 2024 Best Places to Work.

U.S. News said its ratings reflect the evolving sentiments that factor into employee decision-making when choosing the best company to work for. Companies are evaluated using various factors, including quality of pay and benefits, work-life balance and flexibility, job and company stability, physical and psychological comfort, belongingness and esteem, and career opportunities and professional development.

“Choosing a company to establish yourself or take the next steps in your career is a critical decision for anyone,” U.S. News vice president of careers Carly Chase said. “The 2024-2025 list includes companies that received high scores on multiple metrics that make up a positive work environment and everyday employee experience.”
