Clutch Problem Pushes Mitsubishi to Recall 10K Units

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Mitsubishi Motors North America is recalling a little more than 10,000 units to correct a powertrain issue.
Mitsubishi’s campaign covers Lancer Evolution vehicles from the 2008 through 2013 model years and manufactured from December 12, 2007, through March 5 of this year.
In the affected vehicles — a total of 10,474 units, according to NHTSA — the clutch master cylinder can fail.
“Failure of the clutch master cylinder reduces the ability to shift the vehicle into or out of gear, increasing the risk of a crash,” regulators said.
Mitsubishi informed NHTSA that it will notify owners, and franchised dealers will replace the affected clutch master cylinders free of charge.
The recall is expected to begin on or about Nov. 11.
Owners may contact Mitsubishi at (888) 648-7820 and mention recall campaign No. SR-13-009.
