Asbury Automotive Group has a new look in the Boston area.
On Thursday, the dealer group celebrated the grand opening of Herb Chambers Toyota of Boston in Medford, Mass., completing a multi-year project that turned a five-acre office campus into a renovated and expanded car dealership.
The existing structure, which had been the former Century Bank headquarters, was renovated, Asbury said in a news release. Crews also built a new three-story 120,000-square-foot addition and connected to the existing five-story tower.
The finished facility includes more than 200,000 square feet of indoor showroom space. The four floors of the showroom space are climate-controlled, and the facility has indoor and outdoor parking for more than 570 vehicles.
There are 37 service bays, nearly three times as the store’s prior location, with room for 37 more, the group said.
Later this year, Asbury plans on installing rooftop solar panels at the dealership.

“This facility represents our continued commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience,” Asbury president and CEO Daniel Clara said in a news release. “This building was designed and renovated with our guests, team members, and community in mind: added showroom and service space to prioritize the guest’s time, modern amenities, and a more convenient automotive experience for every guest who walks through our doors.”
Decade of donations & dedication at DRV PNK
Further south, AutoNation was also celebrating. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based retailer commemorated 10 years of its DRV PNK initiative, which has raised and donated more than $50 million to fight cancer.
In celebration, AutoNation is making another $1 million investment through 10 grants of $100,000 each to 10 longtime parters of theirs in the fight against cancer.
The retailer announced the 10 grants during its DRV PNK Across America Day, where AutoNation associates gather and hand deliver Totes for Hope care bags to adult and pediatric patients living with cancer at partner hospitals and organizations.
The 10 grants were presented to:
- American Cancer Society
- Breast Cancer Research Foundation
- Cleveland Clinic Florida
- CURE Childhood Cancer
- Moffitt Cancer Center
- National Pediatric Cancer Foundation
- Phoenix Children’s Hospital
- Providence St. Jude Medical Center
- Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center
- Wipe Out Kids Cancer
The grants will go towards programs involved with cancer research, education, prevention and direct support for patients, survivors and families. The funding will aim to help early-career research, broaden access to genetic counseling and integrative therapies, free transportation to treatment and addressing food insecurity among pediatric cancer-impacted families.
“Ten years ago, we set out to make a difference in the fight against cancer, but DRV PNK has become much more than a fundraising effort,” AutoNation CEO Mike Manley said in a release.
“It has become part of our culture because thousands of Associates have made this cause part of their everyday lives. Across our network of more than 300 locations, they are fundraising, volunteering their time, and supporting patients and their families in their communities. The additional $1 million grant funding reflects both our commitment to advancing cancer research and care, and the passion our Associates continue to bring to this cause every day.”
