Group 1 Automotive’s extensive operation in the United Kingdom has a new boss.
The dealership group has named chief financial officer Daniel McHenry president and CEO of its U.K. business, replacing Mark Raban, who is leaving the company after two years in the position.
McHenry comes to his new role with plenty of experience with Group 1’s holdings in that nation, having been its U.K. finance director for 13 years before being promoted to CFO in 2020. The company said he’ll continue to serve in that role as well, reporting to president and CEO Daryl Kenningham.
“Daniel is an exceptional talent, and his proven leadership and experience make him the right leader for our U.K. business,” Kenningham said. “We believe he will have a very positive impact.
“This appointment gives Daniel valuable operational experience, a reflection of our commitment to talent development and succession planning.”
McHenry, a native of Belfast, Northern Ireland, joined Group 1 in 2007 when it purchased Chandlers BMW in southern England, its first U.K. acquisition. He said he aims to build on what Group 1 has already achieved in the U.K., where it currently operates 109 dealerships.

“Our U.S. and U.K. businesses have distinct strengths,” he said, “and drawing on those strengths and the broader resources of Group 1 presents a tremendous opportunity for our team and our shareholders.”
Coleman grows again with Chicago-area acquisition
A fast-growing dealership group has grown once again.
Coleman Automotive Group has acquired McGrath Nissan in Elgin, Ill., from Scott McGrath, according to Performance Brokerage Services, which represented the seller in the transaction.
The acquisition is the seventh for Iowa-based Coleman Automotive since it was founded by brothers Kyle and Ryan Coleman in 2024. Kyle Coleman, who serves as president and CEO, has said his goal is to expand to 40 locations within 10 years. The company operates dealerships in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.
The new addition, which has been renamed Nissan of Elgin, is Coleman’s third Nissan store.
McGrath Nissan opened in 1990 and is located in the Elgin Auto Mall in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.
