Group 1 Expands Dealership Count in SoCal

Group 1 Automotive announced it has expanded its dealership count in Southern California.
The auto retailer has acquired Heller Ford and Heller Hyundai in Southern California.
The dealerships, which will operate as Ford of Escondido and Hyundai of Escondido, are expected to generate $135 million in estimated annual revenues, the company shared.
"Beginning 2014 with the acquisition of two strong brands that expand our footprint within the San Diego metropolitan area is a great start to the year," said Earl Hesterberg, Group 1's president and chief executive officer. "We plan to continue to grow our company and these are two powerful brands in a very strong market."
This announcement comes shortly after Group 1 revealed it had added six franchises to its Southern U.S. store count in mid December.
Group 1 Automotive announced in December its acquisition of Jay Automotive Group Inc. in Columbus, Ga.
The move included franchises Jay Toyota Scion; Jay Buick GMC; Jay Subaru of Columbus; Jay Mazda; and Volvo of Columbus.
The dealerships, which will operate as Rivertown Toyota; Rivertown Scion; Rivertown Buick GMC; Rivertown Subaru; Rivertown Mazda; and Volvo of Columbus, are expected to generate $150 million in estimated annual revenues.
