Kia Puts Wonder Woman on Wheels

Wonder Woman is taking to the streets instead of the skies these days — in the form of a car.
Kia Motors America unveiled its new Sportage, inspired by the power of Wonder Woman, in conjunction with the 2013 New York International Auto Show.
Featuring a star-accented color scheme derived from Wonder Woman’s outfit and gold trim representing her Lasso of Truth, the theme continues inside the vehicle with red upholstery and blue LED lighting in the dash.
The customized Sportage continues Kia’s 10-month, eight vehicle partnership with DC Entertainment to build vehicles based on characters of the Justice League; namely, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg.
The point of the collaboration? To boost awareness for DC Entertainment’s We Can Be Heroes campaign, which raises funds for three humanitarian aid organizations working in Africa: Save the Children, International Rescue Committee, and Mercy Corps.
In 2012, the campaign raised almost $2 million which delivered aid to millions of people affected by drought and famine.
A final Justice League vehicle will be an amalgamation of all seven superheroes in one, Kia said. The cars are influenced by the comic book artistry of Jim Lee.
“As one of the most well-known superheroes in the world, Wonder Woman portrays an impressive balance of power, agility and confidence, all of which are inherent characteristics of the Kia Sportage crossover,” said Michael Sprague, executive vice president of marketing and communications for Kia Motors America.
“Like the rest of the Justice League-inspired vehicles, this customized Sportage signifies a meaningful collaboration between cars and pop-culture. And for the first time, here in New York, all seven vehicles are standing together in one place to raise awareness for DC Entertainment’s very worthy ‘We Can Be Heroes’ giving campaign.”
