Seat Issue Triggers GM to Recall 21K Trucks

General Motors said on Wednesday that it is recalling 18,972 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra Series 1500 full-size pickup trucks from the 2014 model year in the United States.
The automaker pointed out these trucks have manual front seat reclining seatbacks that might fail to meet a federal safety requirement for dynamic performance if struck from behind.
“GM is aware of no crashes or injuries related to this condition. Dealers will inspect the seatbacks and make adjustments if necessary under new vehicle warranty,” spokesperson Alan Adler said in a message to Auto Remarketing.
Along with the units in the U.S., Adler mentioned the recall covers 2,575 trucks in Canada, another 103 in Mexico and 71 other units exported elsewhere, raising the total recall population to 21,721.
