A trio of veteran automotive technology executives — Jason Barrie, Amit Maheshwari and Max Steckler — have teamed up to launch PromptPath, an artificial intelligence-enabled person-to-person conversation platform for the auto industry.

The new platform aims to help sales, F&I and BDC teams at dealerships with customer conversations, using AI to provide real-time prompts, customer context and insight, “keeping conversations connected from first contact through delivery,” PromptPath said.

In other words, using AI to guide a human-to-human conversation on a more efficient and effective path.

“The industry has spent a lot of time asking how AI can replace parts of the customer experience,” said Maheshwari, PromptPath’s CEO, in a news release.

“People still want to talk to people. The bigger opportunity for dealerships is giving their teams what they need during customer conversations, when they still have the opportunity to influence the outcome.”

The platform provides customer history, inventory availability, pricing, dealership policies and conversation guidance to the various dealership department teams, starting with the first phone call with the shopper.  The information adapts as the interaction continues.

It is designed to help personnel remain, “engaged in the conversation instead of searching multiple systems, while reinforcing established dealership processes and taking detailed notes and action items to enable more consistent execution across every interaction,” the company said.

Dinos Constantine is chief operations officer of Holler-Classic Automotive Group and a PromptPath user.

“Every digital interaction turns into a conversation. Most phone conversations originate from some form of digital communication or interaction, whether it be from visiting our website, to submitting an internet lead, chat or text,” Constantine said in a news release. “When consumers call, they have exhausted their digital options, and PromptPath arms our sales, BDC, and management teams to improve our closing rates and improve the customer experience.”

Steckler, who is the PromptPath chief product technology officer, added: ““We’ve spent the last two years working alongside dealers, refining PromptPath, and our learnings have delivered a material impact on business performance of dealers. It’s rewarding to finally share what we’ve built with the broader automotive industry. We know the impact it’s already having, and we’re excited for the rest of the industry to experience it.”
