The fresh news at Spiffy certainly passes the smell test.

The mobile vehicle maintenance and detailing provider said Thursday it has acquired NuVinAir, which provides solutions designed to create clean and healthy vehicle interiors, including odor elimination.

The move expands Spiffy into new service categories and brings additional cleaning solutions into the Spiffy portfolio.

Terms of the transaction, which has already closed, were undisclosed.

“We are thrilled to welcome NuVinAir to Spiffy,” CEO Scot Wingo said in a news release. “This acquisition represents a pivotal step in our mission to redefine the automotive service experience everywhere.

“Together, we will continue to innovate and expand our products and services, providing customers with the highest quality and most comprehensive vehicle cleanliness and health solutions in the market,” Wingo said.

Asked about the new service categories that the acquisition will allow Spiffy to enter, Tim Downey — who is vice president and general manager of Spiffy Devices — said in emailed comments: “As the leader in odor elimination, NuVinAir deepens Spiffy’s relationships and work within all of the major vehicle rental companies, as well as a significantly large number of dealerships across the country.

“Additionally, the diverse family of NuVinAir products strengthens the Spiffy product portfolio by providing entry points to new innovative cleaning solutions such as Renusurface and Reklenz-X,” Downey said.

The company plans for Spiffy and NuVinAir to remain independent brands, with NuVinAir focusing on odor elimination and vehicle cleanliness, Downey said.

“As we continue to learn from each other, we will blend our strengths to make an optimized ‘go-forward’ business unit,” he added.

Certain members of the NuVinAir team are now part of Spiffy, including executive vice president and chief operating officer Troy Blackwell.

“Just like Spiffy, we built our business with a customer-first mindset. Recognizing our customers’ need for efficiency and excellence, we deliver straightforward, top-tier solutions that enhance vehicle cleanliness and improve net promoter scores,” Blackwell said in a news release. “Combining our expertise and resources for superior customer support and problem-solving will result in rapid service turnarounds, bolstering essential metrics for our national accounts.”

NuVinAir founder and CEO Kyle Bailey added: “Joining forces with Spiffy is a natural progression for NuVinAir. Our shared vision for innovation and excellence makes this partnership a powerful combination. We are excited to contribute to Spiffy’s growth and to bring our unique products and technologies to even more customers.”
