HAMMOND, La. -

Growth is taking place again for one Louisiana auction company, as it announces its second construction phase in as many years.

After completing a $1 million facility expansion in late 2012, Louisiana’s 1st  Choice Auto Auction confirmed this week that an additional 4.5 acres are being cleared at the auction site, to keep up with higher consignment volumes.

“I am eagerly awaiting the completion of the additional parking to enhance operations, especially for our big event sales like our John Dough Christmas Sale Dec.17 and our 2nd Annual Rockin’ Mardi Gras Event Feb. 24-25, 2014,” said operations manager Matt Alombro. “We typically see 1000-plus vehicles for these events so the added space will ease maneuvering on the lot.”

General manager Don Sistrunk agreed, saying, “This new expansion phase will accommodate 800 to 1,200 additional vehicles, positioning us for continued growth of our dealer and fleet business.”

The expansion will also increase the size of the auction’s transportation lot, Sistrunk noted, making it easier to load and unload vehicles. It is scheduled to be completed by early spring, he added, so long as “weather and permitting cooperates.”

Louisiana’s 1st Choice Auto Auction has served dealers in the Gulf Coast and surrounding states for more than 11 years.

Owner and managing partner John Poteet says, “Our commitment to serving our dealers and our community well is what drives our business forward. I invite you to experience our signature Lagniappe every Tuesday and watch for future expansion in 2014-2015.”

Auction day is Tuesday at Louisiana’s 1st Choice; all vehicles are available online, the company said.
