IAA adds more capacity in Minnesota & Maryland

IAA is rounding out an active year of expansions with the opening of new branches in Minnesota and Maryland.

The company said on Wednesday that IAA Minneapolis South is the second branch in Minnesota and provides significant inventory storage and updated facilities to serve the growing needs of the Twin Cities area.

And IAA Elkton, the fifth branch in the Old Line State, supports growing demand in Baltimore and northern Maryland.

The company highlighted both new locations offer state-of-the-art facilities that will support increased customer capacity needs.

“We remain committed to making strategic investments that provide our customers with well-equipped facilities and the capacity to keep pace with strong growth in the important markets,” said Tim O’Day, IAA’s president of U.S. operations. “Our new branches in Minnesota and Maryland are positioned to meet demand as we continue to enhance the experience for our customers.”

The new branches are located at the following:

—IAA Minneapolis South, 28261 Dressler Court, Randolph, Minn. 55065

—IAA Elkton, 183 Zeitler Road, Elkton, Md. 21921

IAA previously made expansions this year in Arizona, California, New Jersey, Florida, Indiana and Hawaii.

Auction notes: IAA expansion & new hire at DAA Memphis

While Dealers Auto Auction of Memphis announced the addition of one of the 2021 Women in Remarketing honorees, IAA finalized the facility expansion in a sixth state so far this year.

On Wednesday, IAA said through a news release that construction has been completed on a significant expansion to the IAA Phoenix branch. The company indicated this continued investment has increased IAA’s footprint in the Phoenix area by nearly 30%, helping to support growing customer demand.

“The added capacity from this expansion will significantly increase IAA’s presence in the Phoenix market and will help to support demand throughout Arizona,” said Tim O’Day, president of U.S. Operations. “We are focused on continuous investment across our operations to help support and maintain an excellent experience for our customers.”

IAA previously made expansions this year in California, New Jersey, Florida, Indiana and Hawaii.

Meanwhile, announced through another news release, DAA Memphis hired Adele LoCoco to manage its fleet lease operations.

“We feel very fortunate to have Adele join our team. Her reputation, knowledge, and experience will be a major addition to DAA’s commitment to providing top quality, reliable service to our commercial clients.” DAA Memphis general manager Dan Dietsch said. “With our steady growth over the past year and a half, offering over a thousand vehicles per weekly sale, DAA Memphis is a regional auction and adding Adele on the team, will help ensure DAA can maintain and improve the quality of service as we continue to grow.”

David Andrews, CEO of Dealers Auto Auction Group, said, “adding Adele to the team helps the Southeastern U.S. auto market, current DAA customers, and helps DAA Memphis continue to grow.”

LoCoco, who was among the 2021 Women in Remarketing honorees, has previously been with Idaho Auto Auction and America’s Auto Auction Baton Rouge.

“I am very excited to lend my skills and experience to help grow the DAA Memphis,” she said.

IAA adds more capacity in California

On Thursday, IAA announced an expansion in a fifth state so far this year, adding California to the list that already includes New Jersey, Florida, Indiana and Hawaii.

IAA highlighted capacity growth in two important California regions.

The company said IAA Fresno has expanded again to meet growing demand in the key market of the San Joaquin Valley.

The company mentioned significant capacity also has been added to meet customer needs in the densely populated Los Angeles market with the IAA Santa Clarita branch growing by more than 75% and IAA Fontana expanding by 40% to provide additional capacity in the region.

“By expanding our footprint and investing strategically in property, we are helping to support growing customer demand in these key California markets,” said Tim O’Day, president of U.S. operations, in a news release. “IAA will continue to pursue opportunities to enhance the buying and selling experience for our customers.”

The company expansion in New Jersey arrived just before Labor Day, while the broadening in Florida, Indiana and Hawaii came earlier in the summer.

IAA reinforces capacity in NJ

The busy summer of expansions by IAA continued on Tuesday, as the company opened a new facility in the Northeast.

IAA announced the opening of its “state-of-the-art” IAA Port Murray branch in New Jersey.

As its sixth branch in the Garden State, the company said the Port Murray facility increases IAA’s capacity by more than 30% in the state. According to a news release, this move follows several recent strategic investments that have more than doubled IAA’s capacity in New Jersey during the past five years.

Features of this new location include Vehicle Inspection Center (VIC) space, a dedicated VIC drop zone area, and covered motorcycle storage. Customers and employees will also have additional meeting and training space with conference rooms.

“This new branch will be vital in meeting the expanding needs of buyers and sellers in the catastrophe-prone Atlantic coastal region,” said Tim O’Day, IAA’s president of U.S. operations. “Our customers will benefit from significantly increased capacity in northwest New Jersey and the integration of leading-edge technology and innovation throughout the Port Murray facility.”

Earlier this summer, IAA announced growth moves in Florida, Indiana and Hawaii.

It’s been a busy summer for IAA on the expansion front.

After previously sharing updates about moves in Indiana and Hawaii, IAA on Wednesday announced that it opened a new branch located in West Palm Beach, Fla.

The global digital marketplace connecting vehicle buyers and sellers now has 11 locations in the Sunshine State with three in the West Palm Beach market

The new branch is located at 14344 Corporate Road S in Jupiter.

“This state-of-the-art branch in West Palm Beach will help IAA increase capacity and meet the needs of our growing customer base in southeast Florida,” said Tim O’Day, IAA’s president of U.S. operations. “This conveniently located branch will improve the overall experience for both buyers and sellers.”

IAA expands again; this time in Hawaii

A week after updating its expansion activities in Indiana, IAA said, “Aloha,” from Hawaii.

On Thursday, IAA announced the opening of a state-of-the-art, full-service facility in Honolulu.

The company highlighted this new location more than triples IAA’s capacity in the state, providing support to meet evolving client needs.

IAA said through a news release that the previous Honolulu location will be retained for overflow use and is also available for critical situations as they arise.

“We are thrilled that our new facility in Honolulu is open for business, which is essential to IAA’s growth as we strive to meet increasing demand in Hawaii,” said Tim O’Day, president of U.S. Operations at IAA.

“We look forward to continuing to provide a seamless experience for our buyer and seller clients using our industry-leading data analytics and technology, as well as our unmatched customer service,” O’Day added.

The IAA Honolulu branch is located at 91-401 Malakole Street in Kapolei.

IAA gives updates on 2 Indiana expansions

There are much more than corn and soybeans growing in Indiana this summer.

This week, IAA announced the completion of the IAA Indianapolis South branch expansion and the start of construction on the new IAA Fort Wayne branch.

According to a company news release, these two investments will more than double IAA’s capacity in the state.

The new Fort Wayne location will be IAA’s fourth branch in Indiana.

“The added capacity of these two branches will significantly increase IAA’s presence in central and southern Indiana, helping to ensure that we continue to meet increasing demand across the state,” said Tim O’Day, president of U.S. operations at IAA.

“Our growth in the Midwest, along with our excellent customer service and cutting-edge technology, will work to maintain a top-notch experience for our customers,” O’Day added in the news release.

IAA rolls out transport function via mobile app

On Wednesday, IAA announced the launch of IAA Transport on its mobile application.

The company recapped in a news release that IAA Transport’s desktop solution was introduced on its website in September in an effort to streamline the vehicle transport process fully with a global branch-to-doorstep delivery solution.

The company highlighted IAA Transport includes several key highlights for buyers that are now available on the IAA Buyer App in addition to its desktop solution.

Buyers can transport vehicles from many locations to one delivery address, shop for transport quotes with no obligation, purchase transport at the time of payment or pick up, and track vehicle deliveries between their desktop and mobile device.

IAA instructed users to update your mobile app to take advantage of the new product — Android: 15.5 (or higher); iOS 7.9 (or higher).

“Expanding the extremely popular IAA Transport tool to our mobile app will further improve and ease the entire buyer experience,” IAA senior vice president and chief transformation officer Justin Mahlik said in the news release.

“We continue to be an industry leader in groundbreaking, innovative technology and are continuously looking for new ways to help our growing customer base improve their buying experience,” Mahlik continued.

IAA again bolsters facilities in California

For the second time this year, IAA enhanced its facilities in California.

On Tuesday, the company announced the expansion of the IAA Fresno branch. IAA said this investment increases the branch’s capacity by more than 50% to support additional client needs in the area.

The company added in a news release that the San Joaquin Valley is a key market, and this expansion further solidifies IAA’s commitment to its buyer and seller clients.

“Expanding the IAA Fresno branch in the ever-growing Central California region adds capacity to further serve our customers,” said Tim O’Day, president of U.S. operations.

“IAA continues to make strategic investments that drive our leadership position, allowing us to actively anticipate and exceed client expectations. Additional acreage increases branch efficiencies and further supports our customer’s experience,” O’Day continued in the news release.

The company’s other move in the Golden State happened in February when it announced that it had completed a branch expansion at IAA Fontana.

Copart elevates Liaw to be co-CEO

On Wednesday, Copart announced that its board of directors has appointed Jeff Liaw, who has been serving as president and chief executive officer North America, to be co-CEO in a move that’s effective on Friday.

According to a news release, Copart said Jay Adair will continue his leadership of the company as co-CEO and as a member of the board of directors.

The company recapped that Liaw joined Copart in 2016 as chief financial officer and was promoted to president in 2019. He was named CEO North America last February.

Prior to joining Copart, Liaw served as the CFO of FleetPride and as a principal of TPG Capital Management, a private equity firm.  

“We are pleased to appoint Jeff as co-chief executive officer. As president and more recently, CEO North America, Jeff has demonstrated an unparalleled ability to drive innovation, inspire his colleagues and enhance our strong partnerships with customers.” said Willis Johnson, chairman of Copart’s board of directors

“Jay’s continued oversight of strategy, business development, capital allocation, and the company’s vision will allow collaboration with Jeff, further strengthen the leadership of Copart and ensure continuity in management and succession planning. I look forward to the continued success of Copart under their partnership,” Johnson continued.

The news release also contained comments from both Adair and Liaw.

Adair said, “I’m honored to partner with Jeff as co-CEO. Working with Jeff over the past six years, I have been impressed with his understanding of our operations, his relentless focus on improving our processes and performance across the organization, and the insights his prior experiences have brought to our team. Jeff is an extremely talented leader and I have never been more confident in our future.”
