TAMPA, Fla. -

Technology service provider Xcira announced Monday the release of AuctionEar, an iPhone app that brings the sights and sounds of the auction block to your mobile device.

Available for free in the Apple iTunes store, AuctionEar allows for live audio and video streaming, in conjunction with Xcira’s existing mobile bidding technology, to aid in remote bidding.

Nancy Rabenbold, Xcira’s chief executive officer, believes the choice between audio, video or both when bidding outside of the auction place will enhance the experience.

“It is important that remote bidders experience the excitement of the auction floor and that the auctioneers leverage the psychology of the auctions to everyone in attendance, whether in the lane or online,” Rabenbold said. “AuctionEar continues to push the technological limits and maximized the efficiency and effectiveness of the audio and video delivery.”

The application grants access to information that would be normally available in person at auctions, as well, including “on the block” vehicle information, vehicle run lists, and the ability to switch between auction lanes. According to Xcira, a version of AuctionEar compatible with the Android platform is currently in development and will be available soon.
