Once again proving their popularity among car buyers across the country are SUVs, which dominate the latest iSeeCars list of top 10 vehicles with the highest average annual mileage after 10 years on the road.

While the average 10-year-old-vehicle is driven 11,518 miles per year, iSeeCars found that nine out of the top 10 models named carry annual mileages that outpace the average rate by 13.9 percent to 25.1 percent, according to the car search engine’s latest research data on vehicles that take on the most miles.

“SUVs as a vehicle segment are driven an average of 12,037 miles per year and are second to only minivans,” iSeeCars chief executive officer Phong Ly said in a news release.

Moreover, nine out of the top 10 models are also SUVs, including the top-ranked Chevrolet Suburban.

In fact, seven of the nine SUVs listed on the overall top-10 list are full-size, like the Suburban model, and U.S. automakers make up a majority of the list with six out of 10 models.

Known for the expansive cargo room it can provide families and commercial fleet drivers, the Suburban model can fit up to nine passengers, according to iSeeCars.

Meanwhile, iSeeCars' second and third-ranked top driven vehicles are the GMC Yukon XL and Chevrolet Tahoe models, which share the same manufacturer as the Suburban.

The fourth-ranked vehicle is Toyota’s Sequoia model.

Not only does the model provide off-road and towing capability, but Sequoias can also accommodate up to eight passengers, iSeeCars said.

Furthermore, eight of the top 10 driven vehicles also made it on the iSeeCars Top 10 list of Longest-Lasting Cars to reach 200,000 miles in April.

“The vehicles with the highest annual mileage tend to also be the vehicles that last the longest,” said Ly. “People who drive their cars the most are likely to prolong the lives of their vehicles with regular service and maintenance because these vehicles may be a large part of their livelihood.”

iSeeCars.com said that it evaluated 1.7 million-plus car sales of 10-year-old vehicles to determine its list of top 10 vehicles with the highest annual mileage in the country.
