CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -

The Toyota, Jeep and Ford brands were the only brands to take home more than one of CarGurus’ Best Used Car Awards this year.

For the second year, CarGurus announced the category winners of its annual award that identify the best recent-year used models across 10 body style categories.

This year, the Toyota, Jeep and Ford brands each won an award in two categories.

Toyota’s Corolla model won best compact sedan, while the Camry won best midsize sedan.

Following in second place for best compact sedan and midsize sedan include the Chevrolet Cruze and Nissan Altima, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Jeep brand received the best small crossover/SUV (Wrangler) and midsize crossover (Wrangler Unlimited) distinction and Ford took home awards for best full-size crossover (Explorer) and full-size pickup truck model (F-150).

“CarGurus understands that buying a car is an important financial decision, and as a company we aim to provide shoppers with all the information they need to make smart purchase decisions,” CarGurus senior editor Matt Smith said in a news release. “With our Best Used Car Awards, we've identified the vehicles that stand out in their categories in terms of value, quality and availability.

“For people shopping for a great used car, these award winners are definitely worth a close look,” Smith continued.

Along with driver satisfaction and expert reviews, this year’s winning vehicles were chosen based on CarGurus analysis of long-term projected value retention, the company said.
