RICHMOND, Va. -

CarLotz said Monday it expects it will be added to the broad-market Russell 3000 Index and the Russell 200 Index, once the 2021 Russell indexes annual reconstitution finishes.

The addition will be effective after the U.S. market opens on June 28. CarLotz said this is based on a June 4 preliminary list of additions.

The annual Russell indexes reconstitution ranks the 4,000 largest U.S. stocks as of May 7. The stocks are ordered by total market capitalization.

A news release announcing CarLotz’s addition indicates, “Membership in the US all-cap Russell 3000 Index, which remains in place for one year, means automatic inclusion in the large-cap Russell 1000 Index or small-cap Russell 2000 Index as well as the appropriate growth and value style indexes. FTSE Russell determines membership for its Russell indexes primarily by objective, market-capitalization rankings and style attributes.”

In the release, CarLotz co-founder and chief executive officer Michael Bor said, ““The expected addition of CarLotz to the Russell 3000 and 2000 Indexes is another step forward in our journey as a publicly traded company. We believe inclusion in the indexes will support our efforts to raise awareness within the investment community of the Company’s differentiated business model and its long-term growth strategy.”

In other news from the company, CarLotz said Friday it is moving to a new corporate headquarters in its hometown of Richmond, Va.

The company’s new headquarters will be in the Handcraft Building in Scott’s Addition. The current HQ is in the Richmond neighborhood of Manchester.

CarLotz is building the new facilities, which it anticipates opening later this year, to accommodate growth, as it plans to add close to 200 new jobs.

“CarLotz was born in Virginia, and we couldn’t be more excited to build this next chapter of the company right here in our home state and in the city we love,” Bor said in the release announcing the new facilities.

“Richmond will be our home base, focused on supporting the incredible team members at CarLotz hubs across the country. We are further investing in our physical and digital infrastructure so that, whether online or in-store, our guests have an unparalleled experience when buying or selling with CarLotz,” he said.
