Ken Garff Automotive Group has acquired two of the nation’s top Toyota dealerships, expanding its portfolio for that brand to seven stores.
The group said Monday it has purchased Avondale Toyota in Arizona and One Toyota of Oakland in California.
Avondale Toyota is Auto Remarketing’s 2026 CPO Dealer of the Year and will be part of the agenda at Used Car Week this month in San Diego.
“Acquiring these two highly successful Toyota dealerships is an exciting opportunity to deepen our presence in markets where we already have a strong foundation,” Ken Garff CEO Brett Hopkins said in a news release.
“These are exceptional stores with proven track records, talented teams, and tremendous customer loyalty powered by their unique ‘One Person, One Price’ model. We’re proud to add these dealerships and their teams to our portfolio and look forward to building on their success into the future.”
After the purchase, Ken Garff now has five Toyota stores in California, one in Arizona and one in Wyoming. It will own 71 dealerships overall throughout nine states, post-transaction.

Avondale Toyota is the No. 5 store in the country for Toyota sales and One Toyota of Oakland ranks in the top 50, the group said.
Ken Garff acquired the stores from Brian McCafferty.
“Choosing the right partner to continue the culture and legacy I’ve built was incredibly important to me, as I wanted to find a group that shared our commitment to our employees, customers, and communities,” McCafferty said in a news release.
“Ken Garff Automotive Group has demonstrated our same long-term mindset and an appreciation for the unique operating model that we’ve built. I’m confident they are the right stewards to build upon that foundation and take these dealerships forward.”
Ken Garff plans to retain current leadership and employees at the stores. It will name Devin McCafferty, currently the general manager at One Toyota, as the Ken Garff regional vice president over those two stores and the five dealerships the group has in Phoenix.
Chevy dealership sale in Iowa
Elsewhere, Gregg Young Automotive Group has sold the Gregg Young Chevrolet store in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Alan Reuber and Matthew Barrows, according to Performance Brokerage Services, which advised on the deal.
“When you sell a dealership with your name on the building, the transaction is personal,” group president Gregg Young said in a news release. “You care about your employees, your customers, and the community you’ve served. You want to know the people guiding the sale understand what you’ve built and why it matters.
“That is why I continue to put my trust in Paul Kechnie, Matt Willis, and Performance Brokerage Services. We’ve completed several transactions together over the years, and our relationship has grown into a friendship I truly value. Paul, Matt, and their team know our organization, understand our expectations, and take that trust seriously every time we work together,” he said.
Young added: “The sale of Gregg Young Chevrolet in Marshalltown, Iowa, was another example of their commitment. Paul and Matt brought experience, sound judgment, and a steady hand to the process. I appreciate their willingness to have honest conversations, work through the details, and stay focused on getting the deal across the finish line.
“It was a pleasure to see Alan Reuber and Matthew Barrows acquire the dealership, and I’m excited to watch them build their next chapter as Marshalltown Chevrolet. Bringing experienced, enthusiastic buyers together with a seller who cares about the future of the store is something Performance Brokerage Services does exceptionally well. To Paul, Matt, and the entire Performance Brokerage Services team, thank you for another successful transaction and for the friendship behind it. You’ve earned our confidence through your actions, deal after deal, and I look forward to continuing that relationship.”
The dealership will be renamed Marhsalltown Chevrolet and remain at its current location.
