Edmunds tracks retail prices for used cars regularly. But soaring ticket prices for this summer’s World Cup also caught attention of site analysts.
So, Edmunds merged the topics of used cars and soccer together on Wednesday to see what kind of vehicle a fan’s World Cup Final ticket money could buy across three seating tiers.
Here’s what Edmunds uncovered based on its vehicle-pricing data along with ticket data from TickPick as of Monday:
—For the get-in price of $8,289 ($16,578 for two), Edmunds said that purchase price is in line with a 2015 Lexus IS ($15,520), 2016 Toyota Sienna ($16,660) or a 2021 Nissan Kicks ($15,184).
—The average ticket price: $16,849 ($33,698 for two), analysts indicated soccer fans could buy a 2025 Ford Maverick ($32,620), 2024 Honda CR-V ($33,001) or a 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe ($33,507).
Buoyed by the U.S. men’s soccer team’s opening World Cup victory, Edmunds said seat prices are breaking records across North America, especially for the World Cup Final set for New York New Jersey Stadium on July 19.
