Fiat Opens Doors in Michigan

Fiat of Lakeside, the first stand-alone Fiat retail point in Michigan has officially opened its doors as of Wednesday.
The new dealership — or "studio" — located in Macomb, Mich., is owned by the Galeana Automotive Group and was previously home to Galeana Automotive Group’s Saturn of Lakeside, which closed in 2010 due to General Motors’ restructuring.
The new 29,000-square-foot dealership will at first feature just one product, the Fiat 500, the car which Carl Galeana, president of Galeana Automotive Group describes as “innovative with a touch of sexy.”
"This is, of course, a very special time for me and my family, which has been in the auto business since 1968," said Galeana.
"To be ‘the first’ is one thing, but when you have a product as special as the Fiat 500, along with the ingenuity, support and personal commitment of Mr. Marchionne to ensure its success — let’s just that I am very excited to be a part of the team and appreciate the confidence that Fiat has in my organization,” he added.
The Group also owns Galeana Van Dyke Dodge in Warren, Mich., as well as dealerships in Fort Myers, Fla., and Columbia, S.C. It also opened a Sears Automotive Center in Warren, in 2011.
The invitation-only grand opening for Fiat of Lakeside, scheduled for next Monday, will host auto industry leaders, including Fiat and Chrysler Group chief executive officer Sergio Marchionne.
Fiat of Lakeside is located at 18181 Hall Road, Macomb, Mich. For more information about the new dealership, call (586) 286-0200 or visit www.fiatoflakeside.com.
