RICHMOND, Va. -

Consignment-to-retail used vehicle marketplace CarLotz has opened a new hub in Charlottesville, Va.. The new location will be at 1389 Richmond Road, and marks the fourth hub in the state and 12th nationwide.

Ned Gallaway, who previously served as the former manager of CarLotz’s Midlothian, Va., hub, will lead the new Charlottesville store.

“We couldn’t be happier to open a hub in Charlottesville and to have it under the management of Ned Gallaway,” CarLotz co-founder and chief executive officer Michael Bor said in a news release. “Ned has been an important part of the CarLotz family, leading our Midlothian team to significant growth. Our opening in Charlottesville is a win-win for us and Ned, personally.

“The local team will benefit from his leadership, and Ned is able to work every day in the community to which he is so dedicated to serving as part of the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors.”

CarLotz continues its rapid expansion in the Mid-Atlantic region and nationwide, now operating its full omnichannel offering out of hubs in Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Illinois, Tennessee, Texas, Washington State, California, Colorado and Missouri.

The company will be hiring for the new Charlottesville location shortly.

In what CarLotz coined in a previous news release as an “expansion into the Gateway into the West,” was its move to open a hub to serve the St. Louis metro area that it announced last week. This will open up the company’s unique approach to service, value and inventory to the St. Louis market.

CarLotz also recently revealed its new “roots” in the Rockies with a hub planned for Denver, to be located at 8120 West Tufts Avenue. The new “hub” has an opening date expected later this year.
