In order to celebrate the success of the Canadian used-car industry, the Auto Remarketing Canada Conference, presented by CarProof, is throwing a “Celebration of Success” party — bound to end the upcoming event with a bang.
And what’s one of the best ways to celebrate success? Giving back to the community, of course, and that’s just what Auto Remarketing Canada had in mind when it teamed up with Make-A-Wish® Canada for the conference second-night reception.
The Auto Remarketing Canada Conference, scheduled for April 20 and April 21 at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto, is partnering with the charitable organization well-known for making magical wishes come true for children with life-threating medical conditions, for a live auction, which will benefit Make-A-Wish® Toronto & Central Ontario.
“With success comes responsibility — the responsibility to give back. The automotive industry is one with great ties to the community, and is well-known for its charitable contributions. We are excited to give our attendees the chance to support Make-A-Wish and the children whose lives have been bettered through the non-profit organization,” said Bill Zadeits, Auto Remarketing Canada conference chair.
The live auction will take place at the “Celebration of Success” second-night conference reception, scheduled for 5 p.m. on April 21, sponsored by Dealertrack Technologies, Hyundai Motor Finance, Kia Motors Finance, NextGear, SCI Marketview, SiriusXM and TRADER.
Attendees will receive their tickets to the exclusive event upon check-in at the upcoming conference.
Make-A-Wish creates powerful wish experience, improving a child’s state of mind, replacing fear with happiness and helping them to feel like a normal kid again.
And if attendees are interested in supporting the non-profit before the upcoming conference, Auto Remarketing Canada is launching an online fundraising drive (click here to donate).
“We at Auto Remarketing Canada are thrilled to be partnering with Make-A-Wish Canada and are confident we will meet our fund-raising goal of $5,000 with the help of our conference attendees, sponsors and industry partners,” said Marilu McQuilkin, director of meetings and events for Cherokee Media Group. “I began my career working in the non-profit sector, and am excited to introduce a way to give back in light of the growing success of the Canadian remarketing industry.”
By donating to Make-A-Wish, you transform lives. You give children with life-threatening medical conditions a reason to hope for a brighter future. And most of all, you help make their magical wishes come true. Please consider supporting the mission of this important organization by donating online (click here to donate) and by participating in our live auction on-site at the conference!
All proceeds from both opportunities will go directly to Make-A-Wish Toronto & Central Ontario.
The automotive industry has always been an extremely charitable business, with many dealerships and automakers going to great lengths to support their communities.
Let’s continue the tradition and celebrate remarketing success in a way that will help make memories for not only Auto Remarketing Canada conference attendees, but also the lives of children that are more than due for a bit of fun.
And attendees are in for a good time, as well. Our inaugural “Celebration of Success” event will also feature cash giveaways, finger food or heavy hors d’ouevres, and specialty martinis, along with a variety of beer and wine selections.
This event capitalizes on the importance of celebrating milestones as an industry.
Keep breaking records, and you will keep giving Auto Remarketing Canada a much-appreciated chance to keep celebrating an evolving and maturing industry.
The entire team at Auto Remarketing Canada and Cherokee Media Group wish our readers and industry partners a happy holiday season and best wishes for the new year.
This will be the last Auto Remarketing Canada e-newsletter until we turn a new leaf into 2015.
We will be taking a holiday break, but expect news from Auto Remarketing Canada to begin flowing again by Jan. 2 to continue providing our readers with breaking news and analysis from the remarketing industry.
The Auto Remarketing Canada team also wants to take the time to thank our readers, advertisers and industry partners for their support, interest, readership and feedback throughout 2015.
As we continue to grow the Auto Remarketing Canada publications and conferences, readership involvement is crucial and much appreciated.
Auto Remarketing Canada will hit the ground running in 2015, and stay tuned for our inaugural “CPO Stars and Certified Trends” digital magazine issue set to launch in late January.
We will also be gearing up for our the annual Auto Remarketing Canada conference to be held April 20-21 in Toronto at the Westin Harbour Castle. Be on the lookout for news and updates covering this industry leading remarketing conference.
Happy Holidays and Best Wishes for 2015,

When Auto Remarketing Canada launched its inaugural Power 120 issue last fall, we had no doubt the Power list would grow, just as the number of innovative companies in the remarketing space continues to expand.
The second annual Power issue — set to be released later this month — reflects that growth, as this time around we take pride in honoring 150 of Canada’s top companies in the used-car business.
Last year, we asked our readers and partners in the industry for nominations for the inaugural Power list, calling for the names of the most influential used-car companies in Canada. The response was enormous, and the list quickly filled up with readers’ help to include 120 Canadian companies.
This year, the Auto Remarketing Canada team put our heads together based on news and moves in the industry and ramped the list up to include 150 of the country’s top companies in the used-car industry.
With additions such as Xprima Corp., Speed Shift Media, Reynolds and Reynolds and more, Auto Remarketing Canada’s Power 150 has not only grown, but it also continues to become more diverse.
From digital marketing firms and auctions to fleet management and inventory management companies, the listings run the used-car gamut — following vehicles from the moment they enter the remarketing stream to when they are driven off the lots by their new owners.
We would like to thank the companies that made this year’s list for their contributions to the industry as well as their continued support of Auto Remarketing Canada.
On top of making up a portion of our readership, many executives from some of these very same companies have contributed columns and provided the publication with expert insight and analysis into some of the top issues in the used-car business today, such as used supply, SEO, dealership efficiency, inventory management and more.
You will also find in our special Power section, features that cover some of the biggest moves, projects and new products from the companies listed and more.
In our Power Surges feature, we highlight milestones, new offerings and growth in the Canadian used-car industry.
Flip through to Power Plays to read about partnerships, integrations and acquisitions in the used-car business.
In our Power People feature, we focus on promotions and important new hires in the remarketing biz.
For an update on the tight used supply environment, read our Power Supply story which focuses on analysis from industry experts on where used supply is headed and when dealers may see prices ease a bit in the lanes.
Lastly, we have added a Power Dealer section that highlights a few top performing dealers and offer best practices and tips from both independent and franchised stores.
Readers will also be privy to audio and video clips as well as quotes from some of the Power companies, describing their offerings in greater detail.
This section also includes a series of Power Profile advertorials that provide readers with in-depth information about select Power companies.
Stay tuned to Auto Remarketing Canada for this year’s Power 150 special section, and we look forward to seeing this annual issue grow even more next year.

The National Auto Auction Association has reached an agreement with Cherokee Automotive Group, publishers of Auto Remarketing Canada and sister publication Auto Remarketing, to combine its annual convention with CAG’s National Remarketing Conference, beginning in the fall of 2016. The combined meeting will be known as the National Remarketing Conference and National Auto Auction Association Convention and will be held each year during CAG’s Used Car Week.
Beginning in 2016, the event will be billed as the National Remarketing Conference/NAAA Convention. Used Car Week that year will be held at the Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas.
“We are extremely pleased that NAAA now will hold its annual convention in combination with the NRC,” said Bill Zadeits, CAG president. “The addition of NAAA’s convention to Used Car Week is a natural fit for everyone concerned and allows industry professionals to concentrate their networking.”
Dave Angelicchio, a past NAAA president who spearheaded the effort for a combined meeting, said, “I am extremely pleased that we have reached agreement to combine our conferences beginning in 2016.” He went on to say that one of the many benefits to be realized will be when people can make one conference trip instead of two. Current NAAA president Jack Neshe also expressed support, noting that the combination of the two meetings could not be accomplished until 2016 because of existing hotel contracts.
The two organizations, noted Zadeits, will begin working more closely together this year to lay the groundwork for the combined NRC/NAAA meeting in two years. “We will be meeting soon to find the common ground to build a solid foundation upon which to grow,” he said.
One registration fee will be used for the NRC/NAAA, said Frank Hackett, NAAA’s chief executive officer. He said that some professionals who normally attend a NAAA convention but not the NRC will now be able to network with other industry professionals, and the same is true in reverse, as there are some people who traditionally attend NRC but not NAAA. “This will be a great value to everyone involved,” he said.
Ron Smith, CAG’s chairman, said the new relationship with NAAA further enhances the value and importance of Used Car Week. “The vision we’ve always had for UCW was that professionals from different segments of the industry can meet over a one week period to get to know each other better and find common areas where it is beneficial for them to work together,” he said.
Other events held during Used Car Week include the CPO Conference, Sub-Prime Forum and Re3 (repossession, recovery, remarketing) Conference. More information can be found at www.autoremarketing.com.

Auto Remarketing Canada, Canada’s Used Car Conference, announced today that the Trillium Automobile Dealers Association has come on board as one of the conference’s industry sponsors. In addition, the International Automotive Remarketers Alliance is partnering with the event and will offer sessions for IARA members and conference attendees.
Presented by lead sponsor CarProof, AR Canada 2014 is scheduled for March 17-18 at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto.
“We are very excited to be partnering with TADA on AR Canada 2014," said Bill Zadeits, conference chairman. "TADA Executive Director Todd Bourgon and his staff do an amazing job, and with the strong volume growth and increased profitability of pre-owned and CPO with franchise dealers, this is an ideal fit.”
As a part of the conference, TADA will be hosting a dealer discussion panel consisting of top TADA members and moderated by Bourgon. “Our members are certainly first and foremost in the new-car business,” said Bourgon. “However, with the growing importance of CPO, pre-owned sales and service for our members, we are very happy to provide content and knowledge for the event and also offer TADA members a preferred registration fee based on TADA’s participation.”
CarProof has been the presenting sponsor of the program now for the last few years, and CarProof president and CEO Paul Antony was pleased to see TADA’s involvement. “The TADA has been a longtime friend and partner of CarProof, and we all greatly admire and respect the work that the TADA has done and continues to do on behalf of dealers, consumers and government. We are thrilled that the TADA has come on board as a sponsor and partner for the AR Canada conference.”
Steve Macaluso is the managing director in Canada with Copart and is co-chair of IARA's Canadian Committee. He has also been a key player in bringing the IARA into the fold with AR Canada. “For the second year in a row, the IARA and its members are joining with the conference to provide content, share remarketing-specific information, and to enjoy the relationship and business building that is such an important part of what the industry is about,” said Macaluso.
